West Kingdon Thrones by iisaw West Kingdon Thrones by iisaw
A joint project between myself and the very talented Tim Bray of Albion Works. I did the design and the majority of the carving and Tim did some carving and all of the joinery. These thrones apart for travelling.

West Kingdon Thrones by ~iisaw is just breathtaking in it's craftmanship! The skills, patient and amount of work that went into making these with all it's details is truly impressive. And the result is worthy of any king or emperor! ( Featured by Myana )

This is absolutely amazing! Have you ever heard of the SCA (The Society for Creative Anachronism)? It's a medieval reenactment group and I wondered because of the West Kingdom title. These thrones are amazing and I love the lace-like parts between the legs, it adds a certain elegance to it, as do the spires on the back! A true master-piece!

That's wonderful! A fellow SCAdian! ;) I would say long live the Royalty of West Kingdom by names, but I'm from Outlands and don't know the current King and Queen's names. ;P Again, marvelous piece! I'm sure their majesties are quite comfy in them!

I'm quite glad that you got a DD for this peice, it's safe to say skill like this is a dying art. It makes me proud to see craftmen even in this era where art is glanced over without a thought. thanks

Well, you need a good set of gouges and a mallet and the stuff to sharpen the gouges with and a good bench to work on and some clamps to hold your work. The best tip I can offer is your tools can never be too sharp.

Otherwise, once you get the tools, (try for used ones... new ones are expensive) play around with them there are probably dozens of sites with patterns and instructions.
